Oh my...
I think I've just realized the enormity of the task I've put upon myself.
*fear!*
19 minutes until I can start writing...
Having an "audience" will make my writing process a little different, I think. I had imagined myself writing linearly (is that even a word? I mean...in order of what will show up in the story) but skipping around as the mood takes me. I suppose that I could pretend that I'm Quentin Tarantino and do the "This is the present, now this is the beginning, here's the end and then there's the middle again. Oops! Now it's breakfast!" (Thanks Dave, for the Pulp Fiction idea...sorry Justy, for referencing it. ;) )
12 minutes until I can start writing.
The above passage was 92 words long in 7 minutes. That means that to do my daily goal of 2000 words, it will take me around 2 hours each day. Well, let's cut out all the idle internet surfing I do, the blogs I read and the comics...and there's three or four hours right there. If one adds in the time I spend sitting on the bus (longhand is MUCH slower than typing) or just doing nothing, that's loads of time i could be writing.
8 minutes until I can start writing.
I have a lofty goal. I've read various ways of increasing word count...cut out all contractions, use "very" and "really" a whole bunch of times, gratuitous sex scenes and so on. I'm going to try very very very very very hard to avoid that. Except maybe the gratuitous sex. ;) Very, very hard.
6 minutes.
Maybe I should go make some coffee...
